For Ildevert, a 19-year-old engineering student at Sorbonne Paris Tech, RockCorps was full of firsts: his first time volunteering and his first-ever concert.
Encouraged by a friend, he joined a community project where he connected with new people and discovered the joy of giving back. The experience culminated in an unforgettable concert featuring Macklemore, leaving Ildevert with lasting memories, new friendships, and a fresh perspective on brands like ibis.
This case study highlights how one impactful experience can inspire a lifetime of connection, community, and purpose.
Tell us a bit about your background and how you got involved:
This was actually my first time volunteering. I had never heard of RockCorps before, but a friend recommended it to me, especially because of the concert at the end. I decided to give it a shot, and I'm glad I did.
How did you find the experience of volunteering?
I had a great time! The atmosphere was really positive, and everyone was super friendly, which made the four hours fly by. I'm generally more interested in meeting new people than anything else, and this experience was perfect for that. The coordinators were awesome too—I loved how they managed everything.
And what about the concert?
The concert was definitely a highlight for me. This was my first concert, and Macklemore’s performance, especially the confetti at the end, was unforgettable. The choreography during Franglish’s set was also really impressive. I even met someone there who has become a close friend—we still keep in touch.
What do you think about brands like ibis getting involved with community activities?
To be honest, I wasn’t sure if I had ever stayed at an ibis hotel before this, but I was aware of the brand. After this experience, I see ibis differently—it's great to see them involved in such diverse spaces. I’ve always viewed ibis as a reliable brand, but now I might subconsciously associate them with volunteering in a more positive light.
Do you see yourself volunteering more in the future? What was the lasting impression?
Yes, definitely. This experience has made me want to do more volunteering because I feel like I made an impact, even in a small way. I’ve already told all my friends about it and recommended they give it a try. There's a real sense of satisfaction in knowing you’ve contributed to something incredible. I think everyone should experience this at least once in their life.
