July 22nd saw the return of our collaboration with the wonderful AFROPUNK in London.
Over 40 volunteers gathered at The Edge Youth Hub in Hackney to transform their main activity room and kitchen, brightening the walls with colours chosen by the young people who use the centre. The garden was cleared from weeds and prepared so vegetables could be planted and grown by the centre users and finally some beautiful artwork was created.
Various RockCorps friends popped by including podcasters, film makers and activists to talk to the volunteers and get involved. It was an incredible atmosphere, filled with music and dancing – in amongst the hard work!
All volunteers were rewarded with a ticket to the incredible AFROPUNK FEST, featuring hundreds of artists, including Willow Smith, Corinne Bailey Rae, JME and Lianne La Havas.
