In September we teamed up on a very special collaboration with the incredible AFROPUNK.
Both AFROPUNK and RockCorps believe in giving back which is why we were so excited about this project. Activism is long part of the life’s blood of AFROPUNK. They are known as an advocate for cultural change, as well as change directly in communities. Our #givegetgiven project expanded on this.
Volunteers gave their time at an exclusive community project at Everyone’s Climbing Tree in North London, UK – an incredible community hub for creative learning and experimentation. Using African Drumming and other music, they engage young people and teach them new skills. After acquiring some extra land, they wanted to turn it into studio spaces and classrooms. The brilliant volunteers got through a ton of painting, clearing and weeding, transforming the space and making a huge difference to the founders, teachers and many young people that use the centre.
All volunteers were rewarded with a ticket to AFROPUNKFEST London at Alexandra Palace to see inspirational artists including Grace Jones, Laura Mvula, Akala, Young Fathers, Kwabs, Lady Leshurr and many, many more!
Here are a few pics of the day!
